COLLABORATORS
With the help of the UC Davis Road Ecology Center, where wildlife researcher Shannon Lemieux became our first major collaborator (and opened the door for us to make an impact on wildlife safety education, we developed our research methodology and learned to translate data into recommendations. These skills now drive our collaborations with state agencies and enable us to suggest researched solutions that protect both drivers and wildlife across many communities.
We are grateful to collaborate with the Texas Department of Public Safety, working closely with Special License Coordinator Cynthia Allison to transform wildlife safety education statewide. Together, we've researched over 10 wildlife warning signs specific to Texas and proposed comprehensive signage information for inclusion in the Drivers Handbook, thereby ensuring hundreds of thousands of new drivers receive appropriate information on how to approach such signs.
We are proud to partner with PETA, working alongside Talitha McMillion of peta2 to elevate wildlife collision mitigation as a cause deserving national attention. Together, we've been able to reach a passionate, youth-driven audience to enhance discussions about road safety action for animals. In recognition of our prior work, PETA honored Fauna Ark with the Hero to Animals Award on June 26th, celebrating our efforts to protect wildlife from vehicle collisions
